How do I get the SVG into Cricut Design Space?

Why does my uploaded PNG cut so badly?

Design Space auto-traces it into a single silhouette and guesses at the edges. Converting to SVG yourself keeps every colour as its own layer, so you decide what gets cut and in which material.

How do I get rid of the background before cutting?

After converting, the colour list shows every layer. Hide the background colour and export — otherwise it becomes a giant rectangle that your machine will dutifully cut out.

Does this work with Silhouette Studio or a laser cutter?

Yes. The output is plain standard SVG, so Silhouette Studio, LightBurn, Glowforge and xTool software all read it the same way.

What image resolution should I use?

Sharper is better. Aim for at least 1000px on the longest side, with clean edges and a plain background. Heavily compressed or tiny images make the tracer follow compression noise instead of real edges, which produces jagged paths.

Why is my SVG file bigger than the original image?

Because each shape is stored as a mathematical path. Photos and gradients produce thousands of paths. For a smaller file, use the Logo / Text preset, lower Color precision, or raise Simplify in Advanced options.

Can I edit the colors before downloading?

Yes. After converting, the palette lists every color layer. Click a swatch to recolour it — shading is preserved — or hide a layer to drop it entirely, such as removing a background before export.

Can I use the SVG files for Cricut or laser cutting?

Yes. The output is standard SVG that imports into Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio, and laser software. Use the Logo / Text preset for the cleanest cut paths, and remove the background layer first.
